Forward-looking firms will consider the intangible and harder-to-quantify benefits that come from better collaboration and innovation over video — like shorter new product development cycle times, better policy decisions, more robust business continuity capabilities, and improved employee satisfaction through work/life balance. In short, the value of enabling clearer communications lies in releasing your firm from innovation stagnation. It’s the cost of doing business for firms that want to succeed in today’s economy.
Most businesses create an ROI or business plan for video adoption that relies heavily on the predictable and quantifiable savings from travel reductions to pay for the investment. There is nearly always a payoff when considering simple travel savings. Other hard dollar considerations when implementing a coordinated unified communications plan that encompasses video include: 1) potential reduction of ongoing maintenance costs from reduced help desk requests; 2) fewer connection failures; and 3) simplified endpoint administration versus a loose confederation of communications technologies.
